Hikutaia Cut Floodgate Replacement

Major works included:

• Design of temporary works and the installation of a sheet piled cofferdam and dewatering to control the water from the lake and river.

• Demolition of all the existing infrastructure.

• Excavation and subgrade improvements including 8m timber piles with concrete slab foundations.

• The new inlet structure comprised of a precast wing-wall installed onto a new concrete slab which was founded on timber piles.

• The new outlet structure comprised of precast concrete walls placed onto a concrete slab foundation. The panels were tied in with a concrete floor and in-situ stitch joints.

• The installation of a new 1200mm PE culvert.

• The removal and replacement of all mechanical componentry with the installation of a new flap gate.

• Site reinstatement which included retaining walls, timber fences, metal access tracks and grassing.

This project was completed in May 2018.
