Maketu Wastewater Treatment Plant

A SBR Process was adopted for this project which included construction of:

• Inlet works including screening

• SBR treatment tanks (including aeration, mixers and decanting)

• PE Lined decant and emergency ponds

• Sludge dewatering process

• Chemical dosing

• Land disposal field

• Electrical and control design

• Utilities building with Blower room and MCC room

• Associated site works and consent compliance requirements.

The plant was successfully commissioned in May 2012 at the completion of the Design/Build phase and was operated and maintained by Spartan using Rotorua District Council operators.

Innovation

Innovations include using natural lay of the land to seal hydraulic flow, thereby minimising earthworks and including some over design to allow for future expansion from current loads of 425m3 to 835m3.
