Taupo Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

The civil and structural works involved:

• 18,000m3 of earthworks to form effluent ponds.

• Construction of two new reinforced concrete post tensioned tanks, one of which was 9m tall.

• The design / build of a new reinforced concrete control building.

• Construction of numerous pump stations, chambers and pipelines around the site.

M&E works required involved the installation of specialist mechanical equipment such as:

• A gas mixing system

• Two inlet screens

• Trickling filter arms and media

• Compressed air system

• Numerous pumps and controls

Innovation:

• Extensive use of precast elements to replace insitu structures.

• Contractors design / build of the digester tank and the new control building.
